Open Bank account with either on permanent OR local address :RBI

According to latest RBI guideline A bank account can be opened with just one address proof, permanent or local.This will help migrant workers and employees with transferable jobs who at present face cumbersome procedure to access banking services.
A customers can submit only one documentary proof of address (either current or permanent).
If the address mentioned as per 'proof of address' undergoes a change, fresh proof of address may be submitted to the branch within a period of six months.
In cases where customer is not able to furnish local proof of address, the bank may take a declaration of the local address on which all correspondence will be made by the bank with the customer, it said.
"No proof is required to be submitted for such address for correspondence/local address. This address may be verified by bank through positive confirmation such as acknowledgment of receipt of letter, cheque books, ATM cards, telephonic conversation.
If there is a change in address, customer may intimate the new address for correspondence to the bank within two weeks of such a change.

New ATM installed should have VOICE support and Braille Keypad- RBI

According to RBI regulation All new ATMs to be installed by banks from July 2014 onwards would provide audible instructions and Braille keypads to customers.
The RBI's directive today came on its prior advice to banks in 2009 to make bank branches and ATMs accessible to people with disabilities and make at least one-third of the new ATMs installed as talking ATMs with Braille keypads.

Banks should lay down a road map for converting all existing ATMs as talking ATMs with Braille keypads and the same may be reviewed from time to time.RBI also asked banks to make necessary arrangements to provide all existing ATMs/future ATMs with ramps so that wheel chair users/persons with disabilities can easily access them.
Further, RBI also asked banks to provide the facilities of magnifying glasses at all bank branches for the use of persons with low vision.

Minor of 10year above can have Saving Bank account independently : RBI

Once again RBI has charged the scene of Indian banking system and taken a remarkable step which allow minor age above 10 years can operate saving bank account independently
RBI has issued this guideline to all bank which state that a minor above age 10 year can be allowed to avail the facility of saving bank account independently.A minor can have facility like ATM,Debit card and net banking facility also but no overdraft is allowed

No Minimum balance charge for bank account :RBI

RBI has released a notification dated 06.05.2014 in which all banks were directed not to levy penal charges on non maintenance of minimum balance in inoperative accounts .This regulation will be helpful to customer who his having  multiple accounts and not able to operate /maintain minimum balance in each account.
Under this guideline RBI not charge customer for non maintenance of minimum balance rather has asked bank to limit service available to customer if he is not able to maintain minimum balance.Bank should restrict the service to Basic Saving account and restore the service when the balance improve.

No pre-payment penalities on Floating rate laon :RBI

RBI has released a notification on dated 07/05/2014 in which all commercial banks has been asked not to charge foreclosure charges/prepayment penalties on all floating rates term loan sans cation to individual with immediate effect. This is applicable only to individual so bank may charge pre payment charge from partnership firm or corporate

This rule is also applicable to loan like car loan ,House loan ,personal loan

Soon Recive cash without Debit card from ATM :RBI

RBI has suggested a innovative idea for  individuals without a bank account will soon be able to receive money from those with bank accounts, using automated teller machines (ATM).
This will help of having a formal bank account by millions of people living in small village town.
The sender can have money withdrawn from his/her account through ATM machines, he said.
Under this process if a person with bank account wants to send money to a person who doesn't have bank account then He need to send a secure code to mobile number of the person to whom he wants to send money.
When receiver gets the secure code on their mobile then he need visit nearest ATM and use that secure code on ATM machine to get cash instantly.

RBI declare 2005 currency note as Expiry from 1 April 2014


RBI has announced that from 1 April 2014 all currency note that was issued before 2005 will be discontinued.All banks will withdraw these notes after March 31 ,2014. It has asked the public not to panic and said it has done this in the past more than once.

In press release RBI has asked public to exchange these note from banks,To identify your note whether it was issued prior to 2005 ,just reverse the note and locate on botton of note there it will have year which shows year of printing.Refer screen shot

From July 1 ,2014 those who wish to exchange more than 10 piece of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will have to give their proof of identity and residence to the bank in case they are non-customers.

Bank to pay intrest on monthly basis: RBI guideline

Reserve Bank of India on Friday commercial banks on savings accounts and term deposits of less than three months time period is given the option to pay interest . This means that the bank will be paying interest each month .
Currently If the three-month interest is Rs 300 then for one month bank used to pay less than Rs 100 for a month .Bank used to deduct some interest in name of early payment. But now owe them a full 100 .
This may create Economic pressure on banks to pay interest every month, but the advantage would be that they will be able to attract more deposits.
