All in ONE Mobile Banking Platform on Simple GSM mobile

NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) is a mobile banking service provided by NPCI (National Payment Cooperation of India) which works on the USSD technology. Customers can avail of basic mobile banking services of various Bank just by dialing the short code *99# from their mobile phone, irrespective of the telecom service provider, mobile handset capability or the need for a mobile internet plan.

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a transmission protocol used by GSM cellular telephones to communicate with the Telecom Service Providers (TSP). Though similar to Short Messaging Service (SMS), USSD messages however create a real-time connection which remains open, allowing a two-way exchange of data.You need to first register yourself for the Mobile Banking Channel and ensure that your current mobile number is also updated with the Bank.

On dialing the short code *99# you will be first prompted to input the bank's IFSC code i.e. IBKL or SBIN/BKID after which an interactive menu with various banking services will be displayed on the screen. You may then select the relevant banking service from the list of options available.

How do I enroll or activate for the USSD (NUUP) service?

Step 1. Register for Mobile Banking channel online through Net Banking or submit the Channel Registration Form at the nearest Branch.

How do I access the NUUP (USSD) service?

1. Dial *99# from your GSM mobile phone.
2. You will receive a welcome message as "Welcome to National Unified USSD Platform - NUUP. Please enter first 4 letters of your Bank - IFS code or NUUP code to begin."
3. Type IBKL which is the first 4 letters of IDBI Bank's IFS code.( similarly use for other banks)
4. Menu options like Balance Enquiry, Fund Transfer etc will be displayed on your mobile screen.
5. Select the desired option from the menu and enter the details as requested in the session.
6. Enter the MPIN and confirm the transaction.
7. You will receive a confirmation on your mobile screen with the desired information /confirmation for the transaction.

Which are the mobile operators and BANKS connected in NUUP network?
Currently there are some listed BANKS which are enroll in this program.Slowly different banks are in process to provide these service to theri customer.You can check check your respective bank at this link

What are the charges for USSD mobile banking service?
 Bank is providing this service free of cost. However Telecom Service Providers charge Rs. 1.50 per USSD session as per the pre-paid plan / post-paid billing cycle.


Will it work on only Java enabled or on basic mobile handsets? Will it require mobile internet connection or some software to be downloaded?
NUUP service does not require any mobile internet connection or software to be downloaded on the mobile. It works even on the most basic GSM mobile handsets

Do I need to have GPRS or Data plan for using USSD?
No need to have GPRS or any such data connection on your mobile. You can use the service from any GSM mobile which has a voice calling capability.

Does it work on CDMA mobile?
USSD channel is supported only on GSM mobiles.
Can I use this service if my mobile number is not registered with the Bank?
No. You need to first register yourself for the Mobile Banking Channel and ensure that your current mobile number is also updated with the Bank.
